About

Welcome to The Riding Life.

We are a small team of lifelong horse people who believe the barn is one of the best places on earth to grow up, slow down, and learn who you are. Between us we have mucked more stalls than we can count, survived plenty of first canters, and learned most of what we know the hard way, one lesson and one horse at a time.

The Riding Life exists to be the resource we wish we had when we started, and the one we still turn to now. Whether you are a brand-new rider trying to figure out what half chaps even are, a barn parent staring down your first horse show, or a seasoned owner keeping a senior horse comfortable through winter, we write for you, from inside the barn rather than above it.

What We Cover

Our writing spans four areas: Gear & Tack for honest guidance on helmets, boots, saddles, and everything you actually need (and what you can skip); Riding & Lessons for beginners and improving riders; Horse Care for the daily work of keeping a horse healthy and happy; and Barn Life for the culture, decisions, and joys of life around horses.

How We Work

We research thoroughly, recommend honestly, and only point you toward gear and resources we would trust ourselves. When we include affiliate links, we tell you plainly, and they never change what we recommend. Our goal is simple: help you and your horse have a better, safer, happier ride.

Thanks for being here. We will see you at the barn.
